Jacky Webb

As a textile artist I predominantly work with embroidery, appliqué and quilting but as a compulsive learner I enjoy picking up new skills and incorporating them in to my work. I have level 3 city and guilds specialising in stumpwork.

I have developed my own unique style while pursuing a separate career in science which has provided the inspiration for much of my work. The attention to detail taught through my biology degree lead to my other great inspiration, the natural world particularly through the eye of macro photography.

I am also interested in ethnology of the Balkans and although this as yet has not been a great influence in my work, their sustained collection of traditional textile skills and the modern interpretation and use of them have helped me stretch myself to a more contemporary style.
